Now everyone likes Open Data or ‘Data – Donnees’ en francais (sp?) and what better way to present the data but in an Open Data platform and related portal. So enter CKAN – an image compliments of the Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network. At the recent InfoSec 2015 conference (see previous blogs) I had presented on open data and OData. Unbeknown to the audience, this was an install of about 5 minutes over a week elapsed time by a skilled resource and about a day of subsequent configuring appropriately for a client. The CKAN image using Linux (ie NOT a .NET stack but an alternative stack like PHP) was hosted in AZURE and subsequently loaded with client data for display, mapping, charting, and other activities as required. Again, AZURE performance exceeded expectations and showed how with fair play among vendors, business solution stacks could be completed in relatively short order.
