WordPress is the web publisher’s platform de jour. It is used more than 4M times in websites on
the web and who knows how many intranet sites.
So this saga is about putting up WP on AZURE and the lessons
learned. Now most folk using WP don’t
just take WP out of the box. Further, WP
requires a SQL DB to hold the media content that is presented in the WP. WP acts like a framework for quickly building
web content and managing the content.
AZURE provides at least 2 ways of providing a WP AZURE hosted
solution. Way one is with an unbundled
solution where the developer assembles the AZURE components. The second way is to use an AZURE
preconfigured bundle and apply software changes as required. I guess the 2 readers of this blog can guess
pros and cons. Both were done and
successfully in this deployment in under 1 day elapsed time. Billing of the DB was the longest time. So use AZURE marketplace at will. (PS, I never checked the images for security
malware. I sure hope MS has!!)
