In reading “Weapons of Math Destruction” by Cathy O’Neil https://mathbabe.org/ it becomes apparent there may be issues with the application of big data IT techniques and patterns to business requirements – especially in the area of individual privacy. However, in the four generations of individuals in today’s workplace – the millenniums’ have already given up individual privacy. So I think using data gathered in one domain matched to another domain Ad nauseam (yes many times until nauseated) is a legitimate area of exploration for big data. I continue to apply big data techniques to large SQL databases and to security in particular. It seems to me that big data driven penetration testing is the only way of insuring that scalable website defenses are possible.
