SEO, Web Sessions, and The Baizing of the Web
4:07am - 01/02/2018

Canada has 3 national carriers that I use and at least 1 Wi-Fi carrier that I use.  Putting Fiddler II and/or Wireshark on my browsing sessions in IE, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox has shown a trend that may be the undoing of the so called ‘free web’.  As Marshall McLuhan has stated the ‘Media is the Message’.  In the case of my PVR it shows that a regular 1 hour television show is 21 minutes of advertising excluding the pop-ups that are in the other 39 minutes.  Now in my browsing sessions I am getting over 120 other websites than the target site appearing in the trace including items such as Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry.  Indeed the bandwidth used is 98% non-content to me and that is to non-dark sites and non porn sites. (The revenue model for those sites appears to be Trojan malware cookies).  I don’t know at which point the revenue model makes a media unsustainable.  In 1984 the media was the tyrannies message.  It looks like we will all have to write our own browsers.
